Tudor Dixon, former small business owner and popular western Michigan news anchor speaks to the Eastside Republican Club on Tuesday, April 19, at the War Memorial, 32 Lake Shore Road, Grosse Pointe Farms.
Dixon is a candidate for the Michigan Republican gubernatorial nomination.
“In addition to her business experience, Tudor Dixon is a wife, mother of four daughters and a cancer survivor who will bring her wealth of experience to bear on the task of running our executive branch as governor,” said Eastside Republican Club chair Marie Hackleman in advance of the meeting.
Forum doors open at 7 p.m. for a cookie and coffee reception with Dixon before the 7:30 p.m. meeting. The Forum is open to the public at no charge.
During a recent media interview, Dixon reflected on the lock downs, school closings and their effect on learning.
“We have one of the lowest reading proficiency levels in the nation,” she noted. “We were listed as 38th in US News and World Report. To come back from that, we have major issues building back our workforce and bringing business back into Michigan,” she told MLive.com.
As the daughter of a steel industry worker, she grew up around factories her entire life and spent a decade working in steel manufacturing before pursuing a career in public relations and media.
Dixon began her professional career in Chicago with an industry-leading public relations and marketing firm after graduating from the University of Kentucky with a degree in psychology.
She later returned to her roots in public relations, and build a successful media business and career as a tv news host.
She and husband Aaron Dixon are raising their family in Norton Shores.

The Eastside Republican Club Forum meets on the third Tuesday each month from September through May at the War Memorial. Admission is free and the public is always welcome.
