Chief Craig to Address ERC

  • Grosse Pointe War Memorial Lake Shore Road Grosse Pointe Farms, MI, 48236 United States (map)

“Chief Craig has spoken to the ERC in the past and has continued to generate requests for a return visit,” said ERC chair Marie Hackleman.

“We look forward to hearing from him again in his new role as a GOP candidate for governor.”

She notes that Craig is a strong proponent of voter ID and believes that election audits are necessary to restore faith in the election process. He is on record calling for a "thorough audit" of Michigan's 2020 election results.

As a candidate for governor, the native Detroiter and former police chief now promises to bring his message to areas that haven’t traditionally voted Republican.

Craig graduated from Cass Tech and first joined the Detroit Police Department in 1977. In 1981, he went to Los Angeles where he worked for the LAPD for nearly three decades.

He served from 2009 to 2011 as chief of the Portland Police Department, Portland, Maine. From 2011 to 2013, Craig served as chief of the Cincinnati Police Department. During his tenure in Cincinnati the crime rate was its lowest since 2000.

Craig returned to Detroit to become chief of the DPD in 2013, where he served until retiring last year.
